New 4 plex house went up next door here in the city. They uprooted a beloved hedge and replaced it with a 6 ft wood fence. Slowly, the birds, small and larger, have discovered it. The squirrels feel it is a new highway, with on/off ramps every 8 feet. Traversing the former (Laurel non culinary) hedge took more time and reaching, they seem amused at the simplicity of this new highway. They will probably not like the heat, come August, but I appreciate their adaptations.
